Engagement sessions are one of my favourite sessions to shoot. It gives me a chance to get to know the couples prior to the their wedding, and then a chance to get comfortable in front of the lens. Of course, sometimes, it’s even more important. Melissa and Chris booked their wedding with me having only viewed my website, and because they live in Newfoundland where they are having their wedding, and I am based in Alberta, we hadn’t met face to face before. Email and phone conversations meant I knew I was going to love them both immediately, but they are positively great. It turns out that Chris and I went to the same church way back in the day, but unfortunately I don’t remember him! I will definitely know him next time I see him in a church (waiting for his blushing bride!).

Their little boy came out to the session with them, and he had an awesome time adventuring in the woods by Topsail Beach. After originally meeting for their session at Middle Cove Beach two weeks before, we had to reschedule. The wind was unbearable and everyone’s hair was horizontal. The rain, drizzle and fog doesn’t faze me often, but that day was ridiculous. Melissa and Chris were game to go ahead with their photos, but I knew they deserved better. I am so glad we waited to do them on a better day. The sun was splitting the rocks on the day we met up! It was fantastic!

Congratulations to the three of you! I am looking forward to seeing you all again at your wedding! I am so happy you chose me to be your wedding photographer, because your wedding is going to be beautiful, just like you guys! It’s going to be a fantastic day!

I met Candace a few years ago when she was competing in a rodeo pageant. I was the lucking photographer who got to take her photos at Fort Edmonton Park. She must have liked them, because I get to take her wedding photos really soon! Today we headed out to Fort Edmonton Park again for engagement photos of her and Jonny (who is awesome by the way, because he drove us around and posed for 6 hours while we giggled like girls and ate sour candy- and he didn’t complain a bit!). Fort Edmonton Park was closed for the season. Huge disappointment. So we headed towards the Grain Elevator Park in St. Albert. Closed for construction. More disappointment. Thankfully, it’s not hard to find an awesome place or two for photos in Edmonton!

Now, was I ever thrilled when we got to stop where Candace boards her horse Larry. We plan on stopping there to shoot some wedding photos as well. I have heard lots about Larry, but this was my first time meeting him. She was right- he is a funny horse.

….And because not nearly enough family photos involve horses…I present to you, Family Photo of the year.

Guys, I had an awesome day hanging out with you both. I can’t wait to shoot your wedding!

xoxo,
Amy
