It’s that time again! I have itchy feet and I want to pack my suitcase to come home! This year I will be booking sessions in the Clarenville and St. John’s areas from June 20 – August 6, 2012.

I am looking forward to a summer filled with wedding fun, but I can’t wait to see all of my regular family portrait clients (yes, it’s been a year since then!) and meet some new awesome people.

Meet Holly and Chris. This super nice, cute as a button couple are expecting their first child. I am so excited for them! I am excited for the baby as well, because she is going to have a pair of amazing parents! I love working with Holly and Chris because they value photography. I have shot them before, and I know that preserving memories are important to them. They are always so excited when we meet for photos that it is impossible not to want to have fun with them. I can’t wait to meet baby when she arrives. If she looks anything like her beautiful Momma, she is going to be one lucky little lady. Thank you guys for choosing me to capture this exciting time in your lives! xo, Amy

Christina and Dennis got engaged back at Christmas after 9 years of being together! Congratulations to them! It was awesome hanging out with them this weekend and shooting some fun engagement portraits for them! Even though it was freezing, we had a really great time! The two of them were troopers, so it was awesome!

Oh, and Dennis did a REALLY good job picking out her ring! He tells me she deserves it! She must be pretty special!

Congratulations again on your engagement!

This summer I joked that Lee is a professional groomsmen. He has stood at a wedding of mine pretty much every year, and is always a very cooperative Bridal Partier. (For those of you wondering, I did in fact just make up that word. I like it.) Anyway, so I was thrilled when he contacted me to take photos of him with his girlfriend Jackie, and their dog Chummy. Lee and I grew up in the same little tiny town and we know lots of the same people, so it was nice to catch up with him  and get to know  Jackie. I reaffirmed for her that where Lee and I are from, it’s OK to just visit someone and just walk right it. It’s just that great of a place.
So, it was at this exact point in the conversation that I almost said, “So, when are you two going to tie the knot?”

But, I got distracted by something else and forgot all about it. It’s probably a good thing…..
Because if I had asked, “So when are you two going to tie the knot….?”

It might have ruined Lee’s suprise!!!Yes ladies and gentleman, that there is a real life, true blue, down on one knee proposal that neither Jackie or myself saw coming. I am sooo glad I didn’t ruin the surprise. And that I was ready! Way to make 2 girls have a heart attack all at one time Lee!!!

Oh, and what about Chummy? How handsome is he!? Thanks for picking me to be the one to capture that awesome moment for you! I look forward to seeing you both again soon!

Lisa and Jeff recently got married in Newfoundland, but because of horrible, horizontal snow type weather, she didn’t have the opportunity to get all of the shots she wanted from her wedding. I actually saw a couple of photos from her wedding online, and for real, the snow was flying horizontally. I love weddings, but I was glad I didn’t have to participate in that weather! So to make up for it, last week while I was in Fort McMurray, we got together to shoot some photos of the two of them in their wedding clothes, with their dog Riggs!

Presley, the flower girl stopped by for a few quick shots as well. The poor child was feeling miserable and she couldn’t have been a bigger trooper. For all of you out there tsk tsking at me for having her take her coat off, what you don’t see is her momma standing just outside the photo holding her super warm winter coat, with the vehicle warm and running behind us! Oh, and big, warm, purple winter boots. See, no harm done!

We met up at their house and then headed to Birchwood Trails which is absolutely gorgeous and I would love to shoot there again, however,  the weather again wasn’t on our side, and because it was such a  dreary day, the sky got dark way faster than any of us anticipated and I didn’t have a chance to explore as much as I would have liked. I love tall birch trees, and I love shooting in the woods so it was right up my alley, but the light just would not hold out. When we couldn’t suck another photo from the light, we walked back to their house to continue shooting in their back yard with some off camera flash. But happily for me, as I walked around the corner of their house, I saw it!  A fire pit! Lisa and Jeff were married on Guy Fawkes Night, which in Newfoundland is traditionally celebrated by huge bonfires, marshmallows and a ton of fun with friends and family. I remember having fires on the beach with my parents and sister when I was really little, and it was always so much fun! So, when Lisa told me that they had been married on ‘Bonfire Night’, of course we had to light the fire pit. Jeff was an absolute trooper, and made us a roaring fire! Of course we spent more time racing around the flankers and trying not to burn Lisa’s gorgeous dress, than we did shooting, but it was so much fun!

Thanks for being awesome and braving the cold (and the flying flames!) I really enjoyed photographing you both!

Even though I grew up in the same town as Colette and Peter, I don’t ever remember meeting them until Alicia and Jonathan’s wedding in Fort McMurray this past September. I am sure glad I met them now! They are all so nice! Both of them were in the wedding party and their adorable daughter was among an adorable trio of flower girls. I’ve been in Fort Mac twice since the wedding, and every time, I am lucky enough to shoot the most amazing people. This time was no exception.

Colette, Peter and the kids met me at my hotel, where we took some adorable shots of them in front of the Christmas tree in the lobby.

We were lucky enough to get a nice warm day, so then we headed outside for some casual outdoor shots. I can’t wait to see them all again at the next wedding we are all participating in, this time in Newfoundland!

Here are some more family portraits from my most recent trip to Fort McMurray. Kristi, Norm and Tanner met up with me at MacDonald Island and we took a really early morning walk along the river. The session started out really chilly, and the first sets of photos actually have frost on the ground. After a while though we found some gorgeous birch trees just right for sitting, and even Tanner posed for a few on the trees.

This session actually had been postponed from the morning before because there was some crazy fog happening in Fort McMurray. I was so glad we waited. It’s not every day you can get the intense blue skies we got in some of these photos!

Here are my favorites from your session guys, look forward to your proofs in a few days!

I have known Kim since high school and it was great catching up with her and meeting her boyfriend while I was in Newfoundland. We have been in touch on line through all of these years, but rarely seen each other. We headed out to a couple of locations throughout St. John’s and had a great time!

It was great seeing you again, and super nice to meet you Jeremy!

I haven’t seen Julia in years, and it was awesome to meet up with her and meet her boyfriend Michael this past week. Their dog Buckley is adorable- and so well behaved!
