The only thing rivalling this little girl for cuteness is her bunny slippers. Seriously, when I rang their doorbell, I had never me this family in my life. But about 2 seconds after I had dragged all of my gear inside, baby J put her little arms out for me to hold her. Sooo sweet!

Thank you guys for inviting me into your lives to capture such a precious time. Enjoy Baby’s first Christmas!

This summer I joked that Lee is a professional groomsmen. He has stood at a wedding of mine pretty much every year, and is always a very cooperative Bridal Partier. (For those of you wondering, I did in fact just make up that word. I like it.) Anyway, so I was thrilled when he contacted me to take photos of him with his girlfriend Jackie, and their dog Chummy. Lee and I grew up in the same little tiny town and we know lots of the same people, so it was nice to catch up with him  and get to know  Jackie. I reaffirmed for her that where Lee and I are from, it’s OK to just visit someone and just walk right it. It’s just that great of a place.
So, it was at this exact point in the conversation that I almost said, “So, when are you two going to tie the knot?”

But, I got distracted by something else and forgot all about it. It’s probably a good thing…..
Because if I had asked, “So when are you two going to tie the knot….?”

It might have ruined Lee’s suprise!!!Yes ladies and gentleman, that there is a real life, true blue, down on one knee proposal that neither Jackie or myself saw coming. I am sooo glad I didn’t ruin the surprise. And that I was ready! Way to make 2 girls have a heart attack all at one time Lee!!!

Oh, and what about Chummy? How handsome is he!? Thanks for picking me to be the one to capture that awesome moment for you! I look forward to seeing you both again soon!

All of the best parts of my job would give you a list too long to type here, but meeting new people is high on the list. I get to drink cups of tea in peoples living rooms and wait for their babies to fall asleep. I get to chit chat and make small talk and see adorable babies. I chose to photograph babies in their natural environment, their warm and cozy homes, surrounded by the things that make up their little worlds. It’s not a bad gig. When I met up with baby K. in St. Albert last week, his family did a great job of making me feel welcome, and I am so glad I met them! He is quite the looker! The beautiful Christmas tree served as a wonderful focal point for his photos!

I hope you all enjoy this preview of baby’s photos! Thank you for being awesome!

This bear was a present from baby’s great-grandmother, who handmade it. Dara, baby’s mother told me that her grandmother had given up making these bears, so receiving one was very special to her. If you think he is adorable in this photo, you have no idea how cute he is in real life. His face is actually knit, and in the shape of a bear no less. For someone who couldn’t knit a scarf if her life depended on it, I was in awe of how amazing this teddy is.

The photo above is probably my favourite one from the whole session. K. was kicked out solid, and looks so incredibly peaceful. I think this photo looks just like a Christmas card!

Thank you all for welcoming me into your home! I look forward to seeing you all again soon!

Meet the lovely Rebecca. Truly one of the nicest people that I have ever met, and definitely one of the greatest people in Edmonton. I love that she asked me to capture her and her boys, Gabe and Isaac last week. Rebecca is also an incredibly talented talented photographer. She has an amazing gift of capturing how families interact with each other and showing their relationships through their photos. Her asking me to do this for her and her boys was truly special to me.

The temperatures were freezing when we met up, so after a while of freezing our bums off, we took a little warming break and sat in my truck. They were just so adorable looking all cuddled up together that I had to get back out in the cold to take a photo! These boys are adorably attached to their momma, so capturing at this time was super important to me!

Now… isn’t she just lovely!?

Some tattoos!

I don’t have a brother, and I am not a boy so I have no idea about what boys talk about…..

….but it most have been something top secret because the minute Isaac noticed I was noticing them, talks halted and Gabe retreated inside the headquarters.

Thank you all for spending your morning with me! I really enjoyed it and hope you did too! I also hope you enjoy your images!

Lisa and Jeff recently got married in Newfoundland, but because of horrible, horizontal snow type weather, she didn’t have the opportunity to get all of the shots she wanted from her wedding. I actually saw a couple of photos from her wedding online, and for real, the snow was flying horizontally. I love weddings, but I was glad I didn’t have to participate in that weather! So to make up for it, last week while I was in Fort McMurray, we got together to shoot some photos of the two of them in their wedding clothes, with their dog Riggs!

Presley, the flower girl stopped by for a few quick shots as well. The poor child was feeling miserable and she couldn’t have been a bigger trooper. For all of you out there tsk tsking at me for having her take her coat off, what you don’t see is her momma standing just outside the photo holding her super warm winter coat, with the vehicle warm and running behind us! Oh, and big, warm, purple winter boots. See, no harm done!

We met up at their house and then headed to Birchwood Trails which is absolutely gorgeous and I would love to shoot there again, however,  the weather again wasn’t on our side, and because it was such a  dreary day, the sky got dark way faster than any of us anticipated and I didn’t have a chance to explore as much as I would have liked. I love tall birch trees, and I love shooting in the woods so it was right up my alley, but the light just would not hold out. When we couldn’t suck another photo from the light, we walked back to their house to continue shooting in their back yard with some off camera flash. But happily for me, as I walked around the corner of their house, I saw it!  A fire pit! Lisa and Jeff were married on Guy Fawkes Night, which in Newfoundland is traditionally celebrated by huge bonfires, marshmallows and a ton of fun with friends and family. I remember having fires on the beach with my parents and sister when I was really little, and it was always so much fun! So, when Lisa told me that they had been married on ‘Bonfire Night’, of course we had to light the fire pit. Jeff was an absolute trooper, and made us a roaring fire! Of course we spent more time racing around the flankers and trying not to burn Lisa’s gorgeous dress, than we did shooting, but it was so much fun!

Thanks for being awesome and braving the cold (and the flying flames!) I really enjoyed photographing you both!

I just realized that I totally forgot to blog my good friend Kim and her family from their session that I shot back in October. She’s had her images for ages now, and I was looking for something on the blog and realized they weren’t there! Anyway, here she is, with her kids (who are soon not going to be kids at all!). Alex had other plans the day of their photo shoot, so I only managed to snag a few of those, but thankfully Kim and Mandy were able to stick around a little longer. I had a hard time choosing which one to blog of Mandy, because she is so cute, so I decided to show a few!

Even though I grew up in the same town as Colette and Peter, I don’t ever remember meeting them until Alicia and Jonathan’s wedding in Fort McMurray this past September. I am sure glad I met them now! They are all so nice! Both of them were in the wedding party and their adorable daughter was among an adorable trio of flower girls. I’ve been in Fort Mac twice since the wedding, and every time, I am lucky enough to shoot the most amazing people. This time was no exception.

Colette, Peter and the kids met me at my hotel, where we took some adorable shots of them in front of the Christmas tree in the lobby.

We were lucky enough to get a nice warm day, so then we headed outside for some casual outdoor shots. I can’t wait to see them all again at the next wedding we are all participating in, this time in Newfoundland!
