My little sister is getting married! It’s very exciting times around these parts. I will be a part of the wedding party, so I won’t gt to shoot her wedding (which I know will be a fantastic time!) so I was thrilled that I got to shoot their engagement photos in Harbour Grace and Salmon Cove Sands!

I love you sister (even if that crouchety lady at the dress store says we sound like the Berenstein Bears!)

You know those baby books, the ones that tell you what to name your baby and what the name means? Like Amy means ‘loved’? Well I haven’t looked at one of those since I was a teeanger wishing my name was Caroline (I always knew Bridget would be Bridget, so I missed out on that fun bit of pregnancy!). But I bet you if you look up Vanessa it means ‘Joy’. For real, this girl is one of the best people in the world to be around. She is always so fun to be around. When I met her back in University, working at Reitman’s, I was instantly drawn to her. Always upbeat, happy and energetic, she actually has the power to put you in a great mood!

It was awesome finally having the opportunity to hang out with her and meet Mike (and to squeeze her baby belly!). I can’t wait to meet the new addition on my next trip back to the rock (Hopefully sooner, rather than later!)

If you’ve read my blog before, you have met ‘Baby Ryan’. He is my cousin Phil’s little boy, and Bridget adores him. In fact, she was pretty furious when she realized I was at the park, with ‘Baby Ryan’ without her! I am so glad we got the chance to spend some time together this visit!

Andrea is super duper awesome. I am so glad Phil married such a wonderful woman! It’s always nice when awesome people join your family!

Thanks for meeting up with me folks! I am looking forward to seeing you again on the weekend!

I haven’t seen Julia in years, and it was awesome to meet up with her and meet her boyfriend Michael this past week. Their dog Buckley is adorable- and so well behaved!

I always have a great time when I head out to photograph my clients, but sometimes I have an extraordinarily great time. I booked Andy and Stephanie’s wedding from Alberta, so I had never met them before I showed up at their cabin at Princeton Pond for their engagement photos. We know lots of the same people because we are from the same area originally, so I wasn’t too nervous, but as soon as I met them, it was like hanging out at the cabin with old friends! Even though Stephanie assures me she will be stressed on her wedding day, I am really, really looking forward to shooting their wedding next summer!

I should add that the editing process for these engagement photos was super tedious ;) These two are fantastic photo subjects- there wasn’t a blink shot, funny expression or other wasted shot. It doesn’t hurt that Stephanie isn’t capable of taking a bad photo. She’s gorgeous!

….And you can’t beat the soft late evening sun, just before it goes behind the hills to make a gorgeous relaxed photo! It was fantastic to finally meet you guys, I can’t wait for next summer!

I saw the Gullage’s in Edmonton last fall when they drove from Calgary to see me for family photos. At the time, we were going for crisp fall portraits, but it was the hottest fall day ever on record. We were all lovely though, sweating in our fall clothes!

Little Maddox has grown so much since I saw him last year, and I was glad they made the decision to meet me in the Historic Town of Trinity, in Newfoundland for this years family photos. If you ever get a chance to visit Newfoundland, Trinity is a must see! I have very fond memories of my university days, spending summers and weekends in and around this tiny town!

When Krista booked their photos this year because she is expecting and not at the point yet where we would normally do maternity photos. Having been pregnant before, I know how blah you feel mid pregnancy, so I was stunned when I saw them waiting outside the Dock Marina Restaurant in Trinity. She looks fantastic! I wish I looked that good when I was pregnant!

It was great to see you again Krista, Trevor and Maddox! I hope you enjoy your family photo sneak peak! Have a safe trip back!

Last year I had a great time hanging out the the Frye family at Rotary Trail in Clarenville, so I was really excited this year when Michelle booked more family photos with me. I love working with clients multiple times because it gives me the advantage of having met the kids and getting an idea about their personalities and how to best capture them.

This year I met with Michelle, Stephen and the kids at two locations, down by the water on Marine Drive in Clarenville where they have these adorable little buildings that are all vacant now, but are meant to be like a little market. The bright bold colors of the buildings gave us an awesome backdrop, but the sun was just too bright for a certain little Frye. We moved on to the Train Museum where we didn’t have much more shade, but it gave the boys an opportunity to climb and and adventure, just like little boys should.

It was excellent to see and spend time with your f amily again! I hope you enjoy the sneak peak of your family photos!

Friday was awesome, I got to hang out with my good friend Lori and her husband, who I never see. The funny part about it is that I live in Edmonton, and Lori lives in Fort McMurray, and it took a trip to Newfoundland for us to see each other!

Lori’s kids were absolutely the best behaved kids I have ever had come out for photos. So help me, I am sure they should give lessons! Not only are they adorable, but super easy to get along with.

I hope you enjoyed your sneak peak guys! Love you all!

It was great catching up with Mark and Krista this past weekend for some family photos. The last time I saw them, they were a family of 3 and now they have the most adorable little leopard printed baby girl! Their little boy wasn’t quite as interested in having his photos taken as I was in taking them, so it was fun chasing him around the side of Quidi Vidi lake. I have to say though, all the hard work was totally worth it. He is a super handsome little guy, and he has such an expressive face that a ‘sit and smile’ photo wouldn’t have done him justice at all!

Wouldn’t you agree that Krista looks amazing for someone who has such a tiny mite of a baby! I couldn’t believe it when I saw her!

I look forward to seeing you all again soon!

I still maintain my stance that the Cobbler’s Kids had no shoes and my family has no photos. It’s not for lack of trying though- we just have to be extra zoo-like when the lens cap comes off. It’s just part of the charm!

On our second day of our Newfoundland visit, we actually saw the thing they had back in the old days, called the sun, so we made tracks to Bowering Park. The sky was clear but it was enough to skin you outside so it didn’t last long. This has been a crazy Newfoundland winter err, summer.

At any rate, Bridget and her cousin Adrian are having a great visit. It`s funny to listen to them argue about who is whose cousin. No one will ever win the argument, but I think they love each other anyway. Please know that not a single one of these was posed. It`s impossible to get these three to a.) listen and b.) look in your general direction. The red head on the right is the worst offender. Yes Mom, I did just say that.

Nannies are very important people- especially the Nanny Barrett`s. The cousins must really love each other because they have consented to share her. I suspected they might be jealous of each other now that they are old enough to talk and squabble, but it’s going good! I LOVE this photo, which Nanny Barrett prefers in color, but her wall can have her way, and my blog can have my way. See. Compromising is good!

I am not even remotely sure what Bridget was doing here, but I will take it as a win. While I was busy trying to herd the cats, I mean organize my family, she had a moment of calm. I think she might actually be mocking posed photos, but at least now I can make a reasonable guess at what she looks like when she is not in motion (which hasn’t happened since conception). Please note that I am well aware that there is a stain on her shirt and a tissue in her pocket. Both are easily removed- I know. However, if you knew MY Nannies, you would know that one of them is notorius for dribbling food on her shirt (a skill I proudly inherited as well) and my other Nanny always had a tissue poked somewhere. Sleeves, Pockets, Bra straps, it was all the same to her. How can you Photo Shop that out?

Love you guys. All silly 4 of you.

Amy
