I am a little sad. Don’t be concerned. You probably wouldn’t understand. No one else seems to.
You see, there’s this fantastic brown wooden chair with loopydiloop rockers on the bottom and a mustard yellow seat and back, that I really want. I mean really want! But I can’t have it.
It’s not even a matter of money.
You see. It’s sitting next to the dumpster, outside my townhouse. And it’s just perfect.
But I have been forbidden from a.) taking it away from the dumpster and b.) bringing it anywhere near the house. Why you ask? (I pray you are asking and not agreeing with Jamie and Daniel). a.) it might have germs and b.) we have no space. See, you are a good Blog follower! You agree with me!!!
It’s because I love old chairs. Always did. Ask my mother. My bedroom as a teenager was jam packed with old chairs in various stages of refinishing. Yes. I was that cool. While others were experimenting with booze and smokes, I was in the backyard with furniture stripper.
Anyway. Nothing to me is more fun than a photo with a suprise element! Like an old mustrady yellow chair in the middle of a field with a pretty pregnant lady. Can’t picture it? Don’t believe me?
Check this out.

While I was home in Newfoundland this summer, I went to my Grandmother’s house in a little town called Melrose. I love it there. Her house looks over the ocean and my Uncle has all of these buildings for his fishing operation that are loaded with character, because they all belonged to different generations of my family. Anyway, I had spent an amazing hour or so taking family portraits for my cousin Danielle. Let me tell you- I miss the ocean.
Before I could leave Nan’s that day, I had to go drag my sister out of the cozy wood stove heated living room and across the street to sit in an old chair I had found. I had made Lauren, my cousin’s Daughter sit it in it, then Danielle, and finally a big group shot. It was just that fun.
No one would expect to see an old leather chair (as weathered as can be) sitting by the side of the ocean tipped over and very sad looking. But the crazy thing is, no matter how sad old chairs are, if you sit them up straight, and put amazing people in them, they become an awesome prop.
Especially when they are in unexpected places, like by the side of the ocean, with my beautiful sister Maggie, in a little town called Melrose, on my annual October vacation.
So if anyone has some extra space (say the size of on old chair in their basement/garage/heart) could you help me to rescue it?! I will take your snaps in it! And you will love them. I promise!

Amy…….I would love that chair…..I think LOL…. What are loopdiloop rockers ?
I say go get it. You can always ask for forgiveness later. Get some Lysol spray and disinfect it. Good to go.
This is a good post, I stumbled across your post while looking for some random stuff. Thanks for sharing, I’ll be sure to recommend this site to others.

i love love love how candid the pictures are. there’s nothing more fake looking than people stood in front of a plain background and forced to smile a certain way or pose how everyone else does. because of timing we had our family pictures done at dominion, and they look like everyone elses. the “candid” picture they did looks posed!!!!! kudos for being original and shooting pictures they way they should be! i love love love every single picture you’ve taken…keep it up and hope to book you soon!!!
